Tim Cotterill was born in Leicester, England in 1950 and left school at the age of fifteen to complete a six year engineering apprenticeship. This metal-directed education provided a sound base for Tim’s subsequent career in the arts.

Intrigued with metalworking, Tim moved into the sculpture of radical wheeled vehicles. Later he found his peak interest in the design of animals and birds during the ‘70s and ‘80s. Over 1,000 original steel, bronze and gold bird sculptures have been sold world wide; many through Sotheby’s auction house in London.

Tim’s curiosity about the diverse lifestyles in California led to many trips to the United States; immigrating to California in 1990, he exhibited and sold his art all across America. These new high energy surroundings brought out the fun in his art. Tim is now fully focused on frogs. His bronze sculptures capture the whimsical character, the jewel-like quality and the pure joy of these beautiful little creatures.

Here is what Tim has to say:

“Through the centuries and throughout the world frogs have symbolized many things – good luck, royalty, fertility, magic potions, energy, charm, indiscretion, etc., etc.

“In today’s fast world, life sometimes becomes complicated and stressful. As you can see, my art is not. It’s elegant, stylish, whimsical, unique, and pure FUN! It makes people smile! When we smile and laugh it releases endorphins all through our body and mind. The more we smile, laugh and feel happy, the healthier we become. So, not only does my art look good, it actually makes you healthier too!”

“Put more FUN and JOY around you. SMILE! LAUGH! It’s FREE and it’s contagious – AND THAT’S IT!”

            Life in the frog lane!
